ABOUT JOHN

20 Years in Recovery | Coaching for 12 Years | Filmmaker, Publisher, and Author
After several relapses as an alcoholic/addict in New York City and Boston, I finally went all in on June 8, 2001 and spent 6 months in a Phoenix House Rehab Center in Rhode Island. Thanks to Phoenix House and two excellent sponsors, I have been completely clean and sober for the past 20 years while living in the Berkshire mountain valley of Williamstown in Western Massachusetts. I am also very grateful for developing a solid 12-Step foundation in the rooms of Alcoholics Anonymous, Cocaine Anonymous, and Narcotics Anonymous.

My personal path of recovery has largely been a spiritual one, thanks to a daily meditation practice and a conscious effort to reach out and help anyone who asks for assistance. Helping others has increased my happiness a thousand-fold. This LIFE RECOVERY COACHING WITH JOHN program you see here, has been developed from hundreds of hours of coaching and sponsorship over the past 12 years. To me, Life Recovery is all about meditation, self-forgiveness, helping others, and rejoining the human race by developing friendships that end the sad isolation created by addictive behavior.

In my professional life as an award-winning filmmaker/multimedia publisher/author, I launched my own publishing company, ETERNAL WAYS, in 2010. Six years later, in 2016, I founded my non-profit, educational film organization, the ONE HEART MOVIES, and my first feature film won BEST INDIGENOUS DOCUMENTARY in Australia at the 2017 Melbourne Documentary Film Festival. On December 3, 2020, I released my fourth feature documentary film, WE ALL JUST NEED TO DRUM!. To learn more, visit OneHeartMovies.org. As an author, I published my first book, Reawaken-Share Your Spiritual Genius, in 2012, and my second book in 2016, Help Create A Kinder World: Your Guide to Indigenous Wisdom. On February 22, 2020, I published my third book (as a companion to the movie), RESPECT FOR ALL: How to Care for Each Other and Our Earth. LEARN MORE about my life and career at GetMoreCreative.com.

HELPING YOU BECOME A HAPPIER YOU

John helps you develop a recovery plan and build long-term recovery success… not just sobriety. A recovery plan includes the development of healthy problem-solving skills (see below) and achieving meaningful goals to build a healthier/successful life. Having a plan of action with accountability is the first step toward happiness. It also helps to be clear about the central issues that are causing you to feel bad about yourself. You may feel a lot of guilt, shame or anger about your past and confronting your negative emotions is very difficult. By becoming more aware of what causes your distress, you can develop techniques for feeling better. With John's approach to recovery, it's not about analyzing your past, it's about being more present in the moment and letting go of your negative energy. Forgiving yourself and learning how to meditate are essential components of John's coaching process.

DAILY MEDITATION IS THE KEY TO HAPPINESS!
"The more you know yourself, the more you forgive yourself." —Confucius
Addiction can come from so many different personal problems (childhood abuse, trauma, stress, anxiety, failure, depression, etc). But why is recovery so hard? Why do you still feel so bad and unhappy after becoming sober? Why is it so difficult to feel good? There is no need to continue feeling so hopeless. You can change your life for the better... you can learn how to love yourself and forgive yourself. With John's help, along with your daily meditations that focus on self-forgiveness, you can train yourself to have more compassion and be happier. Not only can you can rewire your brain through meditation, but you can learn to trust and believe in yourself which leads to a much happier life!

John coaches clients to combine a DAILY MEDITATION ROUTINE with an outward, conscious effort to HELP OTHERS. It is this combination of inner meditation and outer service to others that will dramatically increase your personal happiness.

There are three additional parts to John's coaching process to help you balance yourself physically, mentally, and spiritually:
1) BODY: Exercise every day, eat healthy, and drink lots of water to increase a feeling of well-being. Note: Try to drink 9 glasses of water throughout your day... best to start with two right after you wake up (hydrating the body, brain, and heart, works wonders unto itself!)
2) MIND: Use daily journal writing to build your self-awareness
3) SPIRIT: Celebrate your daily achievements (no matter how big or small)
